Mediation is a form of conflict resolution in which a neutral third party (the mediator) acts as an intermediary between the parties in conflict. The mediator helps the parties understand their interests and needs, find compromises, and reach a solution that is acceptable to all parties.

There is a continuous demand for mediation as a forum for settling domestic and international disputes. In America, a study of 449 cases revealed that mediation could resolve 78 percent of cases, regardless of whether parties had been compelled to mediate by a court or had voluntarily chosen it .

Mediation and Nonviolent Communication are both forms of communication that enable people to resolve conflicts effectively and without violence. Mediation is a process in which a neutral third party (the mediator) is used to reach an agreement between the parties in conflict. Nonviolent Communication (GfK) is about treating the other person with respect and empathy and communicating honestly and directly.

The COVID-19 pandemic and its short-term impact on mediator training before February 2020, our mediation training, like most other mediation trainings in the world, was on site. Everything seemed agile and adaptable, yet one thing seemed set in stone – the training always took place on site. Mediators in our training learn how to conduct mediation and apply the methods of mediation in their teams as executives, personnel managers, and managing directors.

The Corona pandemic has led many people to engage in many activities, including mediations, online. The advent of online mediations has helped people from around the world who previously did not have access to mediation services to also have access to these services. This has helped lower the barriers of participation in mediation sessions.
