Working with large groups, for example, within the framework of citizen participation, places high demands on professional moderation. Expectation management through clear communication plays a central role in making the possibilities and limitations of influence transparent in dialogue processes. And how can the so-called NIMBYs (“Not In My Backyard”) be brought on board, who fundamentally support a large project but prefer it not in their own neighborhood? Hermann Acker, former mayor, certified mediator, and graduate of the Advanced Course in Business Mediation at the CONSENSUS Campus Sylt, draws from his extensive experience to present a broad and often underutilized field of activity for mediators.

I was initially doubtful of using an online platform for a mediator training as I was not sure how we could practice the taught skills throughout the course in this manner. However, this was not the case at all, IMC’s international training worked so well!
