Uriel’s Journey in Mediation and Why It Matters for Young People

Empowering the Next Generation Through Mediation: Uriel’s Journey

At the International Mediation Campus (IMC), we are passionate about fostering the growth of young mediators and empowering individuals to make a meaningful impact in the field of conflict resolution. As part of our mission, we offer scholarships to promising talents from around the globe, giving them the opportunity to further their education and refine their skills.

One such individual is Uriel Marques, a talented and driven student who was awarded one of our scholarships after participating in the 10th Bucerius Mediation Competition. Here, Uriel shares his inspiring journey and the impact our program has had on his personal and professional development.

A Scholarship to Grow in Mediation and Conflict Resolution: My Journey So Far

Hi everyone! My name is Uriel Marques, and I’m thrilled to share an incredible personal milestone that has been a game-changer in my professional journey.

A few months ago, I had the privilege of participating in the 10th Bucerius Mediation Competition—an event that was both an intense challenge and an extraordinary learning experience. Among all the talented participants, I was fortunate to be one of seven selected to receive a scholarship from the International Mediation Campus. This scholarship has opened doors to further develop my skills and knowledge in a field I am truly passionate about: mediation and conflict resolution.

Thanks to this scholarship, I enrolled in an advanced training program titled “Conflict Management in Organizations, at the Workplace, and in Teams” led by the exceptional Professor, Mediator and Founder of the CONSENSUS Group: Dr. Andrea Hartmann-Piraudeau. The course spans 12 comprehensive modules and has already been nothing short of transformative.

Throughout this program, I’ve gained profound insights into key aspects of conflict resolution, such as:

· Understanding and addressing team conflicts effectively.

· Empathy and active listening as essential leadership tools.

· Managing organizational and workplace dynamics to foster healthy, collaborative environments.

As I’m now halfway through the course, I can confidently say that the knowledge I’m acquiring has started to shape the way I approach both personal and professional challenges. Whether it’s improving group dynamics, preparing for future leadership roles, or navigating everyday interpersonal situations, this training is equipping me with practical and impactful tools to succeed in my career.

I feel incredibly grateful for this opportunity and am motivated to continue developing my skills to make a meaningful difference wherever I go. Conflict resolution and mediation are not just valuable skills—they are essential to building better teams, workplaces, and communities.

If you share a passion for conflict resolution, mediation, and leadership development, or simply want to acquire practical tools for managing workplace challenges, I highly recommend this course. It’s a game-changer for anyone looking to grow personally and professionally.

Why Mediation Matters for the Next Generation

Uriel’s story highlights the transformative power of mediation education and why it is so important for young people to take an interest in this field. At IMC, we believe that equipping individuals with the tools to resolve conflicts, foster understanding, and promote collaboration is one of the most effective ways to create positive change in the world.

In today’s interconnected and diverse society, the ability to navigate disagreements constructively and build bridges between differing perspectives is invaluable. Mediation nurtures critical skills like empathy, active listening, and problem-solving, which are essential not only for professional success but also for building stronger communities and fostering peace.

We encourage young people to explore the world of mediation and conflict resolution, whether as a career path or simply to enhance their personal and professional lives. Together, we can inspire the next generation to lead with understanding and create a brighter, more harmonious future.
