Accreditation & Certification
IMC Certification and Accreditation
On completion of the 40 Hour IMC Professional Mediation Course, participants are IMC certified and accredited Professional Mediators and they have the fundamental skills to practice mediation in general disputes. In other words, they are an IMC certified, accredited Professional Mediator. They receive a certificate shortly once all attendance data has been confirmed. To practice in specific fields such as Family Mediation and Commercial Mediation students are likely to need other internationally and nationally recognised additional qualifications to practice these specialisations in their own contexts legally.
IMI/SIMI Accreditation
The next step on their Mediation journey with IMC is to achieve accreditation through two recognised International Mediation Institutions: The International Mediation Institute (IMI) and the Singapore International Mediation Institute. This is not mandatory, but it is strongly recommended that all participants undertake the simple steps to be accredited.
To be IMI certified and accredited and SIMI accredited, IMC Course alumni must complete two things: a one hour on-site simulation in your workplace and a written reflection on the simulation which you then submit to IMC and we facilitate your Certificate from IMI and accreditation from SIMI.
ISM University Certificate
All IMC Alumni of our Professional Mediation Course have the opportunity to receive a 3rd Certificate – a University Certificate from the International School of Management (ISM) which is a form of diploma. This entails another 60 hours of on-line self-study. All students on the IMC Mediation Course have access to this self-study course as part of their Mediation package. There is no additional cost. Access is through the Absorb Platform.
Trainer Expertise
The IMC Trainers are highly qualified professionals from over 30 countries, specialising in a variety of thematic areas of mediation. • The primary trainers for this package will be Ian Rigden, the Director of Training for IMC and Mr. Nauman Gul for the in-person training and other IMC Trainers for the on-line package.
Frequently Asked Questions
Find clear answers to common queries about courses, certification, and enrolment, with dedicated support available if you need more help.
What are the requirements for the mediation training?
What is the online live training set-up?
The IM-Campus team provides a virtual room. Participants and trainers receive a link in order to access the sessions. To create a group atmosphere, camera and sound on is required. For mediation simulations and group work, trainers will divide the group into break out sessions. You will need internet access and a browser device. We work with the online video platform zoom.
What happens if I miss a live session?
In order to receive the IM-Campus certificate, you will need to complete 80% of the live sessions. If you are not able to attend this amount of live sessions, you will have the opportunity to repeat the missing trainings within our next course.
What is the advantage of the online format of our mediation training?
Online mediation is a global trend. Our participants will be experts in the field of online mediation and especially international online mediation. The knowledge provided in the course enables you to conduct face-to-face mediation, too.
What certificate will I receive after completing the training?
Participants receive a certificate from IM Campus upon completion of 40 hours of live online mediation training. After submitting a one-hour onsite mediation simulation and a written reflection, participants are eligible to register with the International Mediation Institute (IMI) and the Singapore International Mediation Institute (SIMI). Upon completion of an additional 60-hour self-study course, participants are awarded a university certificate from the International School of Management. In addition to these academic and international qualifications and titles, formal recognition of mediation training is regulated differently in each country and must be clarified with the relevant local authorities. Regardless of formal recognition, the training provides in-depth knowledge of mediation and conflict resolution and enables participants to apply these skills effectively in their professional and private contexts after completion.
Why do participants from different countries pay different prices?
Our Fair Price System Policy considers the different purchasing power indexes. We want to give anyone from anywhere access to our mediation program by adjusting the prices to each countries economy and situation. So to speak, everybody pays not the same sum but the same price.
What are the main focus areas of the mediation training?
The IM Campus trainers have different professional backgrounds, focuses and nationalities. An interdisciplinarity from law, communication science, psychology, economics, peace studies etc. makes sure to consider different aspects of mediation. The trainers work in different countries and fields of mediation: business mediation, family mediation, peace mediation, international mediation, intercultural mediation but also coaching and team mediation.
What opportunities will you have after completing the program?
You will be part of an international and intercultural alumni network – providing a platform to exchange experiences and work together as co-mediators. You will be able to deal with conflicts and be prepared for a career as an executive and resolve conflicts constructively. You will be qualified to offer (online) mediation and negotiation according to the rules in your country.
Is it possible to learn and apply mediation skills online at all?
From our experience, online live training provides you with skills and knowledge you need to conduct a mediation. In online live simulations body language and other non verbal communication can be read and taken into account. However, online and offline settings are not the same. In order to experience face-to-face simulations, we encourage our participants to meet with peers locally.
What is IMI Certification
Our mediation training is approved by the IMI. After the successful completion of the training, you are an IM Campus certified international mediator and eligible to become IMI qualified. After the training, you can be listed on the IM Campus and IMI homepage as a mediator. You will be:
- International recognised
- Quality proved
- Part of international network.
This course is part of the CONSENSUS Campus Program. CONSENSUS Campus is recognised as meeting the quality criteria set out by the International Mediation Institute (https://imimediation.org/program/consensus-campus/). CONSENSUS Campus has been granted dispensation by the IMI to deliver its existing approved training online during the covid crisis.
