Founder and Managing Director of CONSENSUS Group

Andrea founded Consensus Group a German well known service provider for mediation in 2014 and in line with that later the International Campus.
Her expertise and at the same time passion lies in conflict resolution, intercultural communication and curriculum development. She draws on a wealth of knowledge and practical experience on the topics of mediation, negotiation, intercultural communication, leadership, process design and organisational development. Before establishing the company, she managed large European projects, conducted negotiations and set up an internationale study program, among others. She is an international certified mediator (IMI) and has supported many parties to settled conflicts internationally in commercial, workplace and multi-party settings. In this role, she also advises ministries, governments and organizations worldwide. Her academic training consists of a master's degree in communication sciences and sociology, a Master in mediation and a PhD in Social science on the topic "Cooperation or confrontation? The effect of commitment, empowerment, emotion and criticism in negotiation and mediation". She completed the last two degrees on the job in order to delve deeper into the subject she also focuses on in practise. Andrea has published scientific books and essays about mediation and conflict management. Her special area of consulting lies on highly escalated conflicts, intercultural conflicts and multi-party conflicts, community conflicts involving private sector and government stakeholders. She also taught in diverse universities and developed trainings and curriculums for different target groups in various sectors

Alexandra Kieffer began her path to conflict resolution and mediation by studying sociology, economics and the Joint Master Degree "Peace and Conflict Studies" in Germany and England. She is a certified mediator and Senior Programme Manager in the national (CONSENSUS Campus) and international (IM Campus) training area of CONSENSUS. After working as a consultant in the field of political communication, she is now mainly responsible for international projects on conflict resolution, communication and mediation at CONSENSUS.

Ian joined the British Army in 1980 and spent 37 years in uniform, retiring in 2017. He spent most of his service in the Brigade of Gurkhas in many places around the world. He has spent that last 8 years working as a humanitarian.
He was the Regional Security Sector Advisor for the Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue Asia Regional Office and Myanmar Team from 10 July 2017 to 1st April 2022 working on the Myanmar Peace Process, engaging with multiple actors. He then became the Regional Advisor for HD Asia-Pacific, coordinating, mediating and facilitating specific projects on Humanitarian access and human security (particularly Myanmar), but also supporting HD’s wider efforts in South East Asia, including Thailand, Bangladesh and the Philippines, as well as providing security sector advice to HD’s team globally as required. He has taught mediation and negotiation and facilitated multiple dialogues during the last 7 years plus to many conflict parties throughout South East Asia and further afield, with another 15 years negotiation and mediation practical and teaching experience in the UK Armed Forces prior to that. He is currently the Director of the International Mediation Campus (IMC), the international arm of the mediation and negotiation training organisation, CONSENSUS Group, Germany. IMC is registered in London. He is a member, facilitator and mentor for the Centre of Competence for Humanitarian Negotiation (CCHN), which is based in Geneva. He holds Master’s Degrees in Defence Studies from King’s College, London (1995), and Strategic Studies from the US Army War College (2008). He is also a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society.

Certifications & Accreditations

We offer an IMI (International Mediation Institute) certified international mediation training. The course meets international standards (40 hours of training). After the successful completion of the training, you are an IM Campus certified international mediator and eligible to become IMI qualified. After the training, you can be listed on the IM Campus and IMI homepage as a mediator. Our international mediation training is also certified by the International School of Management (ISM), a business school based in Germany. After successful completion of the training, participants receive a certificate issued by the ISM and CONSENSUS.
